Norfolk-based novelist reveals her new role in today's EDP
Rose Tremain was one of the University of East Anglia's first graduates - and now she is set to become its first female chancellor.
The 69-year-old award-winning author, best known for novels such as Restoration, The Road Home and Music and Silence, will be installed at a ceremony on June 7.
In today's Eastern Daily Press she explains why she's honoured to take on the role, and how it feels like the repayment of a debt to the institution that set her on the path to becoming a writer.
She reveals which of her novels she's currently adapting for the big screen, and which one she wrote as a response to Thatcherism, also giving her views on the late Baroness Thatcher's significance as a pioneering woman.
