CAROLINE CULOT

Norwich Theatre Royal

Those pesky kids are at it again in a return to the Theatre Royal of the innovative show which brings to life the famous cartoon for nostalgia's sake.

And the proof of its success is the fact tickets are sold out for the complete run this week.

It's the same Scooby show as before, which sees the gang - Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby - investigate spooky goings on in a movie set. The show pays faithful homage to the classic capers, with all the characters looking and sounding like the originals. There's even a fully working Mystery Machine.

Standing out was Matthew Quinn as Shaggy, who really worked the part and provided most of the laughs, with Pierre Marc Diennet in the Scooby suit. A favourite with the kids was a rap and also a great scene involving a line of doors...

It's all great fun, brilliantly done, but my only gripe is that every children's show seems an excuse for lots of souvenirs to be offered in the foyer and it just isn't fair on parents who have already forked out for tickets.
