Jimmy Moran, a former Norwich City player who featured in the club’s famous FA Cup run in 1958-59, has died aged 84.

Moran, born near Motherwell, joined City from Leicester in November, 1957, and scored 10 goals in 14 appearances in the 57-58 season.

The club confirmed the news on Thursday lunchtime.

'The thoughts of everyone at the club at with the family and friends of Jimmy at this difficult time,' they wrote, in a statement on the official site.

The following season he scored twice in 16 starts and also played in the first game of the famous FA Cup run, in the first round against Ilford. The next season was his last at City, when he scored five goals in six appearances, as well as one in the FA Cup.

Moran went on to play for Northampton, Darlington and Workington before heading to East Anglia in 1966 as player-coach at Lowestoft Town. He also played for Gothic, before becoming player-coach at Great Yarmouth where, in 1968-69, as manager, he led the club to their first league title.

He returned to Lowestoft in 1969 and held similar roles at Holt, Gorleston, Coltishall HV, Wymondham and Bury before another spell at Lowestoft.
