Daniel Farke has had two weeks to stew on Norwich City’s Millwall debacle but has come out fighting after the international break.

The Canaries’ head coach has called for unity when Birmingham City come to Carrow Road in the Championship today – as he looks to get his reign back on track.

“As a footballer you always want to stand on the pitch and to have games, especially when you have such a setback against Millwall, it’s not so easy to be there with self-confidence,” the German said.

“You can not just press a button and be there 100 per cent, it’s about working hard and to be honest so far the season has been a little bit like a roller-coaster.

“I would prefer to have won each and every game and to be always like that but to be fair, in the beginning of the season we expected it to be a little bit like this, especially in the first few weeks of the season, that it would be a little bit like a roller-coaster.

“We had to do without many important guys, especially for the defence, and we had a really big change. You would like to have a brilliant start but especially at this time it is important not lose your nerve in judging what we are doing on the pitch and to stand together.

“I think nearly all, of the guys wanted the change of style and improvements, wanted a younger squad and that isn’t just pressing a button and all is okay.”

Just four points from five games, amid sweeping changes to the squad and playing style under sporting director Stuart Webber, have raised concerns but Farke is convinced he can succeed.

“It’s really hard stuff and is always high-risk but we are totally convinced that it’s the right choice,” he continued. “And I think it’s important, especially when there are some setbacks, to stand together, to show a big togetherness and that’s why we need our fans

“For sure I know when they have to watch a game like against Millwall it is not so easy to be full of praise for the guys and to be full of self-confidence that everything will go right.”

He added: “They will play with some performances that are really good and then there will be setbacks but I think if we stand together and we have the support – we have to perform – but if we stand together we have a chance to have a really good season and to develop really soon. That’s what we’re planning to do.”
