Emi Buendia wants to star for Norwich City in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder was a revelation during a debut season in England that ended with a Championship title winners' medal and promotion to the big time.

But the secret is now out about the exciting Argentine midfield maestro, who scored eight goals and weighed in with 12 assists, which means he is sure to be on the radar of bigger clubs at home and abroad.

Buendia is 12 months into a Carrow Road deal that runs until 2022, and the 22-year-old plans to repay the faith shown in him by the Canaries.

"I have a contract and it will be a dream to play in the Premier League," he said.

"For my taste it is the best league in the world, the most competitive. And it will be a pleasure to do it in Norwich, for the affection the people give us.

"It is a humble club, very familiar, people are super close and they helped me from the beginning.

"Our leaders do not want what happened to Fulham, who were promoted and spent £100m and went down.

"Norwich has already said that it will not spend £100m in the market. They are not going to do anything crazy with money."

Buendia left his native Argentina at the age of 11 to join Real Madrid's academy but is a self-confessed River Plate fan. A passion he was able to indulge with some of his Norwich team mates last season on a players' Christmas break to the Spanish capital.

"I was lucky to be at the final of the Copa Libertadores at the Bernabéu.

"It just happened that I was going with colleagues from Norwich" he said, speaking to Argentine newspaper, La Nacion. "It was a trip prepared two months in advance. And on top of that we had a reservation at the hotel River were staying.

"It was insane and the planets lined up.

"As a River fan, since I was a boy I have said I wanted to play a super classic against Boca.

"At the age of 11 I was given the possibility to go to Real Madrid,

"I did not look back at any time. I only thought about playing football. Now that I'm a dad, I put myself in my family's place and see how tough it was. But I considered it was the opportunity of my life."
