Arsenal have been priced out of a £30m move for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, according to reports.

City’s academy graduate has been constantly linked with big-money moves all season, with his impressive form for the Canaries drawing interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the 20-year-old more than most, but it’s their North London rivals who are the latest team to have shown interest in the defender.

Mikel Arteta’s men are reportedly in the market for a right-back this summer, with Goal.com adding to a Daily Mail report stating the Gunners would be interested in bringing Aarons to the Emirates Stadium once the transfer window reopens.

The report goes onto suggest that Arsenal’s funds this summer could be limited however, meaning they’ll be priced out of a move for City’s starlet.

City are said to want in excess of £30m for their right-back, even if they suffer relegation to the Championship.

Arteta could turn to youth prospect Jordi Osei-Tutu to fill the position. The 21-year-old has been on loan to German second division side Bochum this season, but Arteta believes he could provide strong competition to Hector Bellerin next season.

VERDICT: It’s been nice to have a break for constant speculation surrounding Max Aarons - I suspect he has felt the same away about it to.

The right-back has been subjected to constant rumours all season, with City sporting director Stuart Webber bemoaning the media reports following the conclusion of the January window. The coronavirus pandemic will have an effect on transfer dealings this summer - with some clubs budgets being significantly reduced.

Spurs might be another club to rule themselves out of the Aarons saga, with the North London club reportedly agreeing a loan to help with their cashflow issues during the crisis.

City are believed to be planning for a loss of between £18m and £35m, so the situation surrounding transfers out remains uncertain.
