Timm Klose is bursting with pride after completing his dream move to boyhood club FC Basel.
The Swiss international has moved back to the club where he graduated from the academy. Klose made 47 appearances for Basel’s under-21 side before joining FC Thun where his professional career began to flourish.
After a spell away from the country he grew up from the age of five, Klose is excited to be turning off the television and stepping into St. Jakob-Park after years of watching his boyhood club from afar.
“I am extremely happy that the moment has now come and that I will soon be able to run into the Joggeli myself,” Klose told Basel’s official website.
“Now I no longer have to sit in front of the TV with my FC Basel jersey and cheer them on... It makes me proud to be able to wear the colours of my boyhood club and to play in the city where my family and friends are at home.
“From now on I will give everything to bring my strength and emotions for Basel to the field.”
Klose’s arrival at Basel concludes a long-term pursuit of Norwich City’s defender - with the 32-year-old signing on a season-long loan with an option to make it permanent for an undisclosed fee.
Basel’s president Bernhard Burgener is delighted to secured Klose’s signature and hopes his experience will help the club achieve another league title after finishing third last season.
“I am very pleased that with Timm Klose we have been able to sign a personality and a leading player who will strengthen our team with his many years of international experience on and off the pitch.”
Klose is in line to make his debut when Basel host Lausanne after the international break.
The move sees the defender link up with former City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel - who signed a new contract with the 20-time champions despite seemingly confirming his departure earlier this summer.
