Norwich City midfield prospect Uriah Djedje has signed a new three-year deal, keeping him with the Canaries until 2027.

The contract also has a club option to extend by a further 12 months, ending uncertainty over the 18-year-old's future after he had been set to leave as a free agent next summer.

Djedje was part of Johannes Hoff Thorup's first-team squad for a significant part of pre-season, impressing supporters in meetings with Northampton Town, Club Brugge and Standard Liege.

He's since become a key part of the under-21s setup under Olly Lee and Alan Neilson, starting eight of their nine Premier League 2 games this term and opening his goalscoring account with a strike in the recent Premier League Cup draw with Bristol City.

Speaking to official club channels about the contract, he said: "It feels great. Being here for a bit longer makes me feel really happy. I'm really proud of what I've done during my time here. I'm really excited to see what's next, see what's coming, what opportunities will be here soon.

"Just pleased to have extended my contract here. I feel like it's as a result of all of my hard work and dedication, so I just can't wait to see what happens next.

"It's been an interesting season so far, not just for me, for all of the players and all of the staff as well, we're working together with each other. We had a great start to the season, and it hasn't really been the smoothest of flights recently.

"From a personal viewpoint there's always room for improvement, but I feel like I've done well enough to show that I have made a lot of improvements, a lot of progression."

Djedje is hoping to be the latest in a long line of academy products to get a competitive first-team chance at Carrow Road, and says that recent promotions from the academy have highlighted the possible rewards.

"With the new management, it shows that there is that pathway," he continued. "[Thorup] takes a keen liking to younger players, the likes of Gabe (Forsyth) and Elliot (Myles) have shown us the way.

"It just shows that it's possible, especially in my kind of position. I know who I'm chasing, and I know who I can take tips from, (Kenny) McLean or (Marcelino) Nunez for example. But only the hard work will get me there."
