Johannes Hoff Thorup had his say on the key issues around Norwich City's lifeless 2-0 Championship home defeat against Bristol City.

Anis Mehmeti and Nahki Wells inflicted a first Carrow Road reverse in over 12 months, as the Canaries slumped to a third straight league loss heading into the international break.

Thorup opened up on a poor offering from his depleted squad, along with the latest on the fitness of his missing players.

"Maybe the most difficult one for us at home so far this season, I think we struggled to find the rhythm in the game," he said. "I think we struggled to find the flow and the tempo that is needed to create chances and consistently put an opposition under pressure.

"I think most of the things we did out there were on a too low level and too low speed. We took too many touches in situations where we should be able to do it faster, and that, of course, affected the performance. And then, of course, on top of that, it seems like every shot on goal the opposition have, at the moment, it's a goal conceded for us, which makes it even more difficult.

"There was no energy. No desire. There was none of that extra it takes to be able to win a match. We can talk about tactics and positions and whatever, but we still need to be able to bring that extra into a game to be able to win it.

"Maybe fair enough given the moment we are in that some of the players are lacking that because we have stretched them to the limits. Some of them are not supposed to be playing three games consecutively in a week like this, coming back from injuries or in the fitness state they're in, but that's what we ask of them at the moment."

The Dane spoke to the media at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.
