Former Norwich City defender Steve Bruce will miss his current club's match today after the death of his four-month-old grandson.
Bruce is boss of League One Blackpool, but the Lancashire club confirmed the 63-year-old will not be in the dugout at Saturday afternoon's match against Barnsley.
A Blackpool statement said: “The club can announce that head coach Steve Bruce will not be in attendance at tomorrow’s fixture against Barnsley due to the tragic passing of his four-month-old grandson Madison.
"Everyone at the football club send their love to Steve and his family. We ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with this sudden and unexpected loss in their family."
The former Manchester United star took charge of Blackpool last month.
Bruce made 180 appearances for the Canaries in the mid-80s before leaving to join Manchester United for £900,000.
While in Norwich colours, he famously netted a last-gasp winner against Ipswich in the Milk Cup semi final in 1985 on City's way to winning the trophy.
He went on to forge a career in management after his playing days, managing a host of clubs, including Sunderland, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Wigan, Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Hull City.
