Numerous Norwich City old boys reunited with Russell Martin yesterday in a charity match for the Saints Foundation.
Southampton boss Martin assembled an XI to take on a legends' side for the south coast club, helping them to a penalty shootout victory after drawing 4-4 in normal time.
Ex-City centre-back Elliott Ward scored the decisive spot-kick after Martin had begun the shoot-out with his firm finish. They added the icing on the cake following screamers from two of their former team-mates, with Elliott Bennett and Bradley Johnson both finding the net from distance in the first half.
Johnson added to his goal by teeing up competition winner Craig Swanborough in the second 45, but he had plenty of help from the familiar wizardry of Wes Hoolahan in the box.
Former Saints and Norwich midfielder Andrew Surman curled in at the other end, while ex-England trio Matt Le Tissier, James Beattie and Theo Walcott all scored for the hosts.
Among the other once-Canaries to feature were Grant Holt, Gary Holt, Simon Lappin, Gary Hooper and Aaron Wilbraham, all of whom have played for the club the Premier League.
