Daniel Farke admitted his bond with Norwich City is strong as ever after another warm reception on his Championship return with Leeds.
Farke is unbeaten in five meetings against the club he led to two league titles, before he was dismissed in a second attempt at the Premier League.
The German made a point of applauding the home areas on his full-time lap of the Carrow Road turf, after Largie Ramazani had cancelled out Josh Sargent’s first half penalty.
“For me, to be honest, it's always pretty emotional to come back, because this club and these people here will always have a special spot in my heart,” he said. “It sometimes is also difficult to turn the emotions a bit away.
"I will always be forever grateful also to this club and the city, how warmly they welcomed me as a pretty young, unknown coach from German football, the first coach from abroad, and we were able to create memories and something really special for this club. So great memories and I met many great, great people, and it was a great time I will always be grateful for this.
“And for me, yes, it's always also emotional to come back. Norwich is on a good path and during this season look a really strong side. And when we don't play against them, then always my fingers are crossed for them.
"I'm happy that I'm still unbeaten here. It wasn't easy in the last games. And also a nice reception, I’m a bit proud of that.”
Farke was also happy with a point against Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side.
“Definitely a good point on the road,” he said. “I think, overall, it was really an advertisement for the Championship. A really good game with two in-form sides. Obviously in these tight games, decisive moments are always crucial.
"Norwich is not just a good side, they have an unbeaten record here at home during the season and in the last home game a big win against Watford. We are allowed to have one mistake in our defending, because our defending in the last six games was excellent, nearly perfect. But we allowed the winger to cut inside, we were not strong in the duel and then obviously made the wrong decision to tackle in the box.
"Then it's difficult when they are 1-0 up here and the whole stadium is buzzing, and they play with authority and with confidence, and can concentrate on defending. A really good side, with in-form players like (Borja) Sainz, like (Josh) Sargent and they're always dangerous on the counter-attack.”
