Worksop 1 King’s Lynn Town 1
King’s Lynn Town came within seconds of place in Monday’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round draw.
Lynn looked to be on their way to victory after Josh Hmami put them ahead in the first half.
But assistant manager Sam Walker’s tired lunge on the edge of the area in time added on gave the hosts an opportunity to take the tie to a replay – and they took it: Walker blocked the free kick but the ball fell to Luke Hall, who smashed it into the top left corner.
Lynn had absorbed the best of the expected early pressure from the hosts, but were dealt an early blow when defender Kyle McFadden limped off after just 13 minutes with what looked like a knee injury/
Lynn keeper Paul Jones did well to get down low to his left to keep out Dan Bramall’s shot after Dylan Crowe had misjudged the bounce of the ball on the artificial surface.
The visitors came into the came after the enforced change and it was after their best spell of controlled possession that they went ahead, Fin Barnes sliding the ball in for Hmami to slide it home, his first goal for the club.
The hosts had claims for a penalty when Greg Taylor collided with Bramall but the ref showed no interest.
Lynn’s backline was doing a good job keeping Worksop at arm’s length, but McCammon should have put the game further out of Worksop’s reach only to lose out in a one-on-one with keeper Seb Malkowski.
Worksop turned the screw and Regan Hutchinson had Jones scrambling to keep the visitors ahead.
McCammon fluffed his lines again in another eye to eye with the keeper, and then, when he got his sights properly set, he was denied by an excellent save.
Worksop threw the kitchen sink at Lynn and just when it looked like the backline had stood defiant, Hall struck to earn a replay at The Walks on Tuesday evening.
