Johannes Hoff Thorup had his say on the key issues around Norwich City's 3-2 Championship away win at Derby.

Borja Sainz's hat-trick sealed an impressive victory against Paul Warne's club, who had won the last nine league matches at Pride Park, keeping seven clean sheets.

But Sainz's opener was controversially allowed, with television replays clearly showing Josh Sargent cut the ball back from beyond the byline.

Thorup himself was quick to point out Derby's late second, notched by Corey Blackett-Taylor, could have been disallowed for offside in the vicinity of Angus Gunn’s goal.

"It is a big win, and it is a big thing for us to be the first first team to do that here in the season. Not just to score a goal but to score three.

“We knew in the good moments we could control it, and we could dominate, and we could also sometimes create a little bit of a slower game picture, which was in our favour.

"We knew there would be moments where we had to fight and withstand the pressure, and do everything we could for the result and and I think the guys did that so importantly for us.

"(View on the first Norwich goal controversy?) I can obviously not see it from my position, whether it's in or out.

“I think it's so easy for me to sit here, and for other coaches to sit here, and just blame the referees Saturday after Saturday.

"We just have to make sure that we support them the best way, whether that's with a video system on the outside, to support them even better, or another idea. That's the way to go to support these guys, because there will be these moments in the game, because it's so intense, there's so many situations.

"Derby's second goal is also clearly offside, which is not important for us to discuss, because that will happen if there's not better support around the referee. So it will be an ongoing discussion throughout the season, also the next seasons.

“So most important for me is just to mention we have to support them, and give them all the support they need to perform on the best level."
