Adam Lakeland has added to his attacking resources ahead of King’s Lynn Town’s FA Cup trip to Worksop on Saturday.
The Lynn boss has signed Theo Williams on a permanent deal after another raid on League Two Fleetwood Town.
“I’m delighted that Theo has joined the football club," Lakeland told the club's official channels.
"He’s a player we’ve liked for some time and we did attempt to get him in the summer, so to get him over the line now is really great business for us.
"He’s an exciting player with great pace and acceleration, he can score goals, he plays off the shoulder, likes to run behind defenders and it was important that following the departure of Bart, we brought another striker into the building to give us something completely different to the other options that we’ve got in Gold and Jonny.
"I have got no doubt we will help improve Theo’s game, and if we can get a tune out of him then I’m confident he’s a player that can do very well at this football club and in this league, and hopefully move back up the pyramid, be it here at King’s Lynn or elsewhere in the future. I look forward to working with him.”
Williams said: “I’m really happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started, work with the manager and players and get back to enjoying football”.
The 20-year-old came through the youth system of Sheffield United and has plenty of experience at National League North level, with loan spells at Darlington and Farsley Celtic.
He joined Fleetwood last summer, making his league debut in August before joining National League South Torquay United in October on a short-term loan deal.
Lakeland brought in two other Fleetwood players - Billy Jones and George Morrison - last season. Jones impressed before returning early because of injury while Morrison was one of the team's star performers. The Lynn boss also signed young goalkeeper Pat Boyes from Fleetwood on a permanent deal in the summer
Lakeland’s hand was forced after leading scorer Jonny Margetts was ruled out for weeks with a back injury. The decision to sell another striker, Bartosz Cybulski, to Spalding earlier this week left Gold Omotayo as the only recognised striker.
Omotayo knows all about big goals in the FA Cup - his last goal for Lynn in the competition was a famous winner at Doncaster in the first round two seasons ago.
Worksop are second in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, a level below Lynn, having won three of their four home games with a league high tally of 28 goals in 10 games. They beat Basford United 6-3 at home in the second qualifying round.
Home manager Craig Parry is confident Worksop can continue their good form – and has recent history on his side.
“We came across two National League North sides in the FA Cup sides last year in Blyth Spartans and Boston and beat them both,” he told the Worksop Guardian.
"We know we’re up against a very strong side, but we’re a strong side and we’re at home.
“So we’ll have the fanbase behind us and it’s one we’re looking forward to.
“I’m sure when the draw came out, King’s Lynn were probably thinking that it is not a game that they want to play.
"Don’t get me wrong it’s going to be a very difficult game, but we’re looking forward to the challenge and we’re not going to play them with any fear.
“We will be playing on the front foot and we’ll see where that takes us.”
