Johannes Hoff Thorup's willingness to adhere to his footballing style has earned the thumbs up from Norwich City midfielder Jacob Sorensen.

Thorup's arrival at Carrow Road was geared towards shifting their playing style to a more possession-based philosophy, with the Dane enjoying success at his former club Nordsjaelland.

City's preparations so far have consisted of plenty of work with the ball rather than monotonous fitness exercises, as Thorup makes it central to the work they do on the training pitch.

Norwich are currently continuing to step up their efforts in Belgium ahead of a clash against Standard Liege on Saturday. Thorup is utilising the time available to embed his ideas into his squad of players ahead of the Championship opener at Oxford United next month.

Sorensen is one of the few in Norfolk who was aware of Thorup prior to his appointment in May, and is pleased that the club have hired a coach willing to stick to his principles.

"It's been good so far. It's obviously very different compared to the former managers. It takes time to implement ideas and stuff, but so far so good," the Danish midfielder told the Pink Un.

"I didn't know him [personally] and I have never played against him as a coach. I know the Danish league and I follow that, so I knew the sort of football he was playing at his former club. So far, it's been good to get these ideas on board.

"It's good that someone has come in who has ideas that he doesn't want to go away from and he really sticks to his football. It's good to have a guy who is sticking to his principles."

This summer is especially important for Sorensen, who suffered an injury this time last year that limited his minutes in the following Championship campaign.

Thorup was integral in the process to award him another deal at Carrow Road and the midfielder is hoping that his additional work during the off-season can help him seize the opportunity in front of him.

"I really hope that my body is prepared. I tried all I could during the summer working with guys and preparing my body for the season," Sorensen said.

"Right now, it's been great. My body feels good and hopefully that will continue."
