John Mousinho has denied suggestions that Portsmouth's pursuit of Norwich City winger Abu Kamara is picking up pace. 

Reports on Tuesday suggested that the south coast club were 'readying a bid' to make a permanent swoop for the Canaries academy graduate who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Fratton Park last term. 

It's understood there has yet to be any club-to-club contact over a potential deal, as Kamara is assessed by head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup in pre-season with a view to being included in Dane's own Championship plans. 

The England U20 international started City's 3-0 friendly opener against Northampton Town on Saturday and has travelled to Belgium with the rest of the squad to ramp up their preparations against Club Brugge and Standard Liege. 

Mousinho has added ex-City winger Josh Murphy and Middlesbrough's Sam Silvera to his squad this summer, but Pompey sporting director Rich Hughes confirmed they would be interested in re-signing Kamara if the opportunity arose in the coming weeks. 

Portsmouth continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 victory over non-league Gosport Borough on Tuesday night, where Mousinho was asked about the latest reports about the City attacker. 

"In terms of bids being prepared, I did see the story; I think what we have to do is write down a figure on a piece of paper and send it. There's none of that," Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent. 

"I know it's something that the fans are really excited about, but at the moment, there is no movement there. 

"Abu is having a good pre-season so far with Norwich; he played the other day when they played Northampton on Saturday, so nothing in that at the moment."

Kamara's loan spell at Pompey went better than anyone could have expected last season, helping Mousinho's men to the League One title and being ever-present in his side. 

The City forward recorded 21 goal contributions in 52 matches last season and was the subject of chants of 'sign him up' by Portsmouth supporters at the end of the campaign that saw him become a popular figure at the club. 

Kamara, 20, has one year remaining on his deal at Carrow Road, with the Canaries retaining an option for an additional 12 months.
