Johannes Hoff Thorup is striving to turn Norwich City into the Championship’s great entertainers.

The Canaries open up their two-game tour of Belgium on Wednesday night against Champions League qualifiers Club Brugge.

City won 3-0 at Northampton in Thorup’s first official match in charge since replacing David Wagner, and the Dane has spent his entire first two weeks at Colney trying to unlock Norwich’s goal threat.

The 35-year-old expects Brugge and Standard Liege will test his new squad’s defensive resolve over the coming days.

“There's so many things which we haven't touched upon yet, in terms of the way that we're going to play, especially the defensive things,” he said. “And there were many (at Northampton), high pressing where we could have done better; also some basic principles defensively, where we of course will be better in four or five weeks time, because we have to start working on that really, from this week.

“Offensively some good stuff, I think we created some good chances. I think it was hopefully obvious to see that we are building towards this where we can be even more comfortable on the ball, and dominate the game for a long time.

"We could have scored more goals with just a little bit more quality on the last movement or pass.

“The last goal we scored came after I think 20 or 25 passes, and we break through and a fantastic cross. And also creating some good chances getting close to their box, having many bodies in the box whenever we attacked. But offensively there is always room for improvement.”
