Former Norwich City loanee Ondrej Duda is out to 'torment' England tonight as Slovakia seek a route to the quarter-finals of the Euros.

Duda is set to feature against the Three Lions in this afternoon's round of 16 clash in Gelsenkirchen, with a place in the last eight against Switzerland at stake.

Slovakia's confidence is sky-high after beating Belgium in the final game of Group E, and Duda believes they can exploit England's fragility to reach the quarter-finals.

"I watched and heard the noise around David Beckham when he played for England back in the day and for me sometimes it’s too much,’ ex-City loanee Duda told the Daily Mail.

"If you play for England it’s extremely difficult. They’re under a lot of pressure and many of them are still young players. I’ve played against a lot of them. They’re in a process of learning how to handle that and they have to handle it.

"Maybe it can be an advantage for us. It’s one game – 50-50. I don’t know what will happen but I can guarantee I’ll leave everything on the pitch and that goes for every one of my team-mates.

"We watched their match against Slovenia and it was an extremely difficult match for them. I believe that we can torment them."

Duda enjoyed a brief and unsuccessful loan spell at Norwich in 2020, forming part of Daniel Farke's side that were relegated after the Premier League was suspended for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, he has re-established himself at Italian side Hellas Verona and is enjoying international football once again after the re-birth of the national team under boss Francesco Calzona. His goal against Romania in a 1-1 draw with Romania was crucial to their progression beyond the group stages.

"After a long time, I'm really enjoying playing for Slovakia again and that is all because of our coach, Francesco Calzona. He's shown us what it is to play attacking football again," Duda said.

"We've got no reason to be stressed about this game. It'll be a big celebration of football in our country and we have to enjoy it. We are all very calm and ready for the challenge."
