Norwich City academy product Chris Martin is looking forward to his Carrow Road return this weekend, but isn't afraid of being the "pantomime villain".

Martin will arrive at his former club with Bristol Rovers looking to pull off an FA Cup third-round shock, with the 35-year-old buoyed by good goalscoring form.

He's found the net eight times in 16 League One games for the Pirates, and is looking forward to the support of loved ones still in Norfolk.

"It's a nice one obviously for friends and family, knowing that they would get a chance to come along," he said. "The boss has just given me a bit of a ribbing because of how many tickets I've asked for.

"It's just a nice tie. The age that I am, how many more times is that going to happen? I think it's a special moment with friends and family, and hopefully we can go there and get a positive result.

"All of my family are over that side, still living in and around Beccles. I've got a good few friends still in Norwich as well, so hopefully they're looking forward to coming along.

"I had some great times at the football club, some really really top times. Obviously it's also where I kind of made my name and came through the academy ranks.

"It's a club that I will always look on extremely fondly and remember some of those memories. The double promotion squad was a particularly special time in my career and probably the careers of a lot of the guys that were around at that time.

"For sure, I'll always look back with a smile."

Martin isn't sure what reception he'll receive from the home fans, but will be ready for anything in NR1.

"It's been up and down," he continued. "I actually ended up getting a red card when I was there at Fulham, which didn't go down too well.

"I think it's been mostly positive, but you're always going to get a little bit mixed when you're an opposition player and I wouldn't have it any other way.

"I don't mind a bit of a ribbing here and there, I've been used to playing the pantomime villain sometimes at away grounds, so bring it on."
