King’s Lynn Town have lost another two players as new manager Mark Hughes’s summer plans suffered a severe hit.

Defenders Aaron Jones and Tai Fleming have gone, following midfielder Theo Widdrington on a busy day for the exit door at The Walks.

Their departures on a remarkable Thursday night come after skipper Michael Clunan, defender Tyler Denton and leading scorer Gold Omotayo all left for pastures new.

Lynn have yet to announce any new signings.

While Widdrington’s exit was no surprise, Jones’s comes as something of a shock – and there are no indications of where he will be playing his football next season.

“After five incredible years. I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave King’s Lynn,” wrote Jones on social media.

“Throughout my time at The Walks, I have met some remarkable people. Managers who believed in me, team-mates who have become lifelong friends, backroom staff who went above and beyond and fans who have shown me unwavering support. Together, we have achieved a lot. Back to back promotions, the transition from part-time to full-time, FA Cup triumphs and plenty of unforgettable memories along the way.

“I am very proud to have made 167 appearances for this great club and to be named in the NLN team of the season this year was an honour.

“Thanks to everyone e connected with the club and I wish you all the very best for next season.”

Fleming, 21, who was restricted to bit-part defensive roles,  has signed for Lynn’s National League North rivals Banbury United.
