Here is Samuel Seaman's verdict on Norwich City, whose entertaining style of play took them to an impressive 3-1 win over Birmingham at Carrow Road.

Angus Gunn

Followed an impressive performance against Wigan with a solid if not action-packed showing at Carrow Road. The 27-year-old’s distribution was impressive throughout, an attribute evidently crucial to City’s build-up play.

His only save of the evening was fairly routine, catching Gary Gardner’s 82nd-minutend minute header. Birmingham offered little attacking threat but for Maxime Colin’s second goal of the season, which Gunn could do little about.

Again showed the assured reliability which has earned him support amongst City fans. 6

Max Aarons

An excellent defensive performance from the England youth international, who stifled almost any threat from Birmingham’s left side.

Often found space on the right as Keiran Dowell drifted inside, although wasn’t perhaps found as often as he’d like with the ball. Played on bandaged despite catching an elbow to the head in the 48th minute.

Continues to show the consistency he's earmarked as his finest quality, as he rediscovers the form that brought him to world prominence.

Grant Hanley

Looked almost as assured defensively as Gunn and Aarons, although he was rarely challenged by the Blues’ forwards and saw his short clearance dispatched by Colin. Predictably impressive in the air.

Ben Gibson’s presence meant there were fewer awkward moments in possession for the Scottish international than we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Ben Gibson

An excellent return to the starting line-up for Gibson, whose calmness and experience proved vital in preserving the Canaries’ one goal lead for the majority of the second half.

The 30-year-old’s ability in possession was an important asset for David Wagner’s side, often helping to kickstart attacks with balls into Dimitris Giannoulis.

Although the former Burnley centre-back’s pace has been exposed in the past, Birmingham offered very little challenge for City in behind, strikers Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz dealt with coolly by Hanley and Gibson. 8

Dimitris Giannoulis

A mixed performance for the Greek left-back, who continued to look vulnerable at times defensively, an issue which eventually led to his replacement by Jacob Sorensen.

Again linked up well with Onel Hernandez in possession, a pairing that has begun to look consistently productive going forward. Whipped a couple of dangerous crosses in during the opening period before putting Adam Idah through on goal in the second half.

Collected a number of groans from the Carrow Road faithful with a handful of errors in the second half, however. Taken off in the seventieth minute, a short while after looking to pass to Hernandez and instead finding the touchline. 6

Kenny McLean

As ever, linked City’s defence and attack throughout, often finding Idah and Marcelino Nunez as Norwich looked to penetrate the final third.

Fantastic cross for the Chilean's second goal of the evening, and once again showed the trademark energy Wagner loves.

A career defensive midfielder may have stemmed the flow of counter-attacks coming whenever the ball was lost on the edge of the area, but it's hard to criticise the lung-busting performances the German's central midfielders are asked to produce.

Another good showing for one of the Canaries' best players in a tough campaign. 7

Gabriel Sara

In contrast to his performance against Hull in the previous midweek, the Brazilian started quickly before fading.

Nice pass for Idah before Dowell's early penalty shout. McLean and Sara look consistently impressive as a midfield duo.

Did enough to secure his place for Saturday's Cardiff game. 6

Kieran Dowell

A return to form for the Liverpudlian, whose regularity of involvement was refreshing having lacked consistency previously. Tends to float on the periphery of games, but enjoyed more possession than any outfield visiting player and was key throughout.

Some nice interchanges with Aarons and his fellow attackers, and should have earned a penalty when Emmanual Longelo handled his cross in the first half.

Failed to produce a goal or assist but impressed once again, and remains in the conversation for Wagner's greatest improvement. 7

Marcelino Nunez

Needed a big performance after months in the creative wilderness, and boy did he produce it. Anyone who's seen his sensational opener needs no description of how magnificent it was, and anyone who hasn't has seriously missed out.

That volley set the tone for a performance littered with the endeavour, invention and audacity he's known for, before he waltzed into the box to seal his brace. Set Christos Tzolis away to seal the deal in the 94th minute.

Norwich fans will hope the confidence that provides will be a catalyst for more of the same, as will Wagner as he searches for attacking solutions. 8

Onel Hernandez

A quiet game for the Cuban, who no blight on a strong performance but didn't stand out in the way he did against Hull last midweek.

Relished the battle, as he always does, against his former loan colleagues, but produced little to mention. Likely did enough to keep his place in the team, however. 6

Adam Idah

Did everything but score. Excellent at taking defenders with him, excellent in the physical battle, excellent in one-on-ones and excellent with his back to goal. Just needed one finish to top off a fine showing, and he couldn't find it.

Ex-Norwich man Ruddy had a great deal to do with that, to be fair, having expertly tipped his chip just wide, but Idah is yet to score since Teemu Pukki's injury absence began.

Will hope to step up to the plate on that front before the Finn returns, but will be pleased with the rest of his game. 8

SUBSTITUTES

Christos Tzolis (on for Hernandez, 72)

Still doesn’t look entirely up to speed, but offered glimpses of the heights Wagner will hope he can reach.

Scored an impressive goal to cap an exciting cameo, rewarded with a grand ovation from the Carrow Road faithful. 7

Sorensen (on for Giannoulis, 76)

Offered solidity as the Canaries looked to protect their lead. No notable errors but for an awkward left-footed miscue into the stands. 5

Andrew Omobamidele (on for Dowell, 87) N/A
