Wroxham head to Cambridgeshire in higher spirits after picking up a precious point last time out, writes Adrian Gowling.
A morale-boosting point against 10th-placed Phoenix Sports on Saturday was very welcome to Wroxham manager Stewart Larter who has not been shy in warning his Yachtsmen squad to expect a relegation battle if they do not improve their form quickly.
That draw was so important after they'd been beaten, and outplayed, by a club in the drop zone – Heybridge Swifts – in their previous fixture.
Without a victory in Ryman League North since October, the Yachtsmen will at least be relieved to be making the relatively short journey to Julius Martin Lane.
Soham sit in 16th place with 26 points – three places and five points ahead of the Yachtsmen who do have the advantage of two games in hand.
Rangers have, however, been victorious in their last two matches so it will be a difficult task.
A player expected to be facing Wroxham is former Norwich City and Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick.
Soham joint managers Robbie Nightingale and David Theobald pulled off a major coup persuading the former Premier League winner to sign for the club when he left League Two Cambridge United.
As has been too often a regular occurrence this season, Larter will once again be missing players for the trip.
He was without a number of players last week against Phoenix Sports and he is likely to be without former Dereham, King's Lynn and Wisbech frontman Danny Beaumont this afternoon. The forward limped off after just 26 minutes last Saturday with a recurrence of an injury that forced him to miss the three previous fixtures.
In slightly better news, Wroxham travel from the Broads knowing they won the reverse fixture at Trafford Park earlier this season.
Their victory in a five-goal thriller was secured when Jordan Attree came off the bench to head home a last-minute winner. That victory was one of just five Larter's side have achieved in the league this term.
That clash between the two strugglers will be more memorable for the performance of the referee who issued 10 yellow cards, one red and awarded two penalties.
