Dickson Etuhu gave Norwich City victory in their final pre-season match at Carrow Road.
A crowd 5,060 saw just the one goal, Etuhu scoring after 25 minutes, side-footing home from a Paul McVeigh cross after Carl Robsinon had started the move.
McVeigh hit the bar with a header after 37 minutes following a diagonal run by Darren Huckerby.
After the break, Robert Earnshaw went close with a couple of long-range efforts, but City were unable to add to their tally.
The closest Northamtpn came to scoring was in the 67th minute when a left-footed drive by Bradley Johnson was chipped over by keeper Paul Gallacher.
