Passengers using bus routes serving the University of East Anglia will now be able to enjoy travelling on brand new buses.
FirstGroup Buses in Norwich has invested in 15 brand new buses to operate on the 25/35 University dedicated services and yesterday the new Volvo B9TL buses were launched at Chancellors Drive, in the UEA campus.
The new buses, which cost a total of 2.5 million, will operate on services 25 and 35 which link Norwich Rail Station with the City Centre and the University of East Anglia.
Steve Wickers, regional commercial director for FirstGroup Buses, said he was pleased the company was able to bring the latest specification of vehicles to the route, and he said the new buses would provide more comfort for passengers, be more environmentally friendly, and help improve the fleet profile.
He said: 'I am pleased we have been able to use these new buses on such a busy city service. This is a significant investment into Norwich.
Dawn Dewar, transport co-ordinator for the University of East Anglia, said: 'We want our students to leave this university with a lifelong commitment to sustainability; getting them to use the buses is important.
'Brand new buses such as these improve the quality of services and will also help in our aim to get more staff out of their cars.'
