A doctor who established a community caring scheme for the elderly and was awarded with an MBE and OBE has died at the age of 92.
Dr Anthony Allibone, who lived in Blakeney in North Norfolk, died on August 6, leaving a legacy of caring for the community having founded Glaven Caring 43 years ago.
He began working at a General Practice in Blakeney in 1963, after working at the Norfolk & Norwich hospital and at a General Practice in Norwich.
The Blakeney practice later merged with the Holt Practice and he helped establish a new surgery in Jacobs Place.
In 1974 he founded Glaven Caring, a successful care scheme that has helped elderly clients remain in their homes rather than move into full time care.
He leaves a wife Celia, three daughters and four grandchildren.
A thanksgiving service will be held at 2pm on September 22 at Blakeney Church.
