A controversial plan to build four new homes on a field in a small Norfolk village is set to go under the microscope again.

An application has been lodged with Breckland Council, requesting planning permission for the finer details of the scheme on land to the east of Marlpit Road and south of Mill Road in Thompson, near Watton.

Earlier plans for the project were submitted in October 2020, but several objections were raised by neighbours, who said the development would spoil a natural landscape, and the council refused the scheme.

Following an appeal however, that decision was overturned by the Planning Inspectorate in December 2021, giving the project permission in principle.

The four homes are proposed to comprise two three-bedroom and two four-bedroom detached properties.

Thompson currently has some 117 homes, with an increase of four therefore representing a 3.4pc increase in dwellings.

Breckland Council is due to issue a decision on the latest application by February 10.
