Homeowners on a large housing estate will have access to a life-saving defibrillator in a few weeks' time.
Costessey Town Council have agreed to contribute £300 to the equipment costing £1,200 which will be fitted onto the West Costessey Hall on Poethlyn Drive, Queen's Hills.
The remaining £900 will be paid for by Costessey town and district councillor Sharon Blundell, who is behind the defibrillator idea.
Patrick O'Connor, town council chairman, said: 'We are aware of the fact that people can have heart attacks at any time so it is good for a community to have access to a defibrillator for anyone who gets into a problem.
'It costs relatively little money for a defibrillator which can save a life.'
Queen's Hills, on the edge of Costessey, does not have a community defibrillator.
There are defibrillators at the Costessey Centre on Longwater Lane and New Costessey Co-op on Norwich Road.
