A man with a history of violence was jailed for life after being convicted of raping and carrying out a brutal attack on a woman.
Jason O'Dell, 43, was described by a judge at Norwich Crown Court of posing a high risk to women and he said that O'Dell had devastated the life of his victim.
O'Dell of Daisy Street, Wymondham, was sentenced yesterday after previously being convicted, following a trial, of three rapes, three ABHs, two common assaults by beating, one count of criminal damage and another of affray. He had denied all charges.
Judge Stephen Holt said he must serve a minimum of nine years before being considered by the parole board for release and he also placed him on the sex offenders' register for life.
Judge Holt said that as well as repeatedly raping the victim and making her perform degrading sex acts, he had also attacked her and punched her in the face so hard that she could hardly open her eyes.
He said when the victim finally did manage to escape from O'Dell and go to the police she had been forced to move from where she was living.
