A father is appealing to witnesses who may be able to help track down the culprit who stole a wheel from his daughter's bike.

James Boyle, 47, of Aylsham Road, Norwich, bought his 20 year-old daughter Georgia a Claud Butler mountain bike for her birthday in September.

Yesterday the front wheel of her bike, which was locked near The Forum in the city centre, was stolen whilst she was at work.

Mr Boyle said: 'She is devastated, she has just started to cycle to work and looking at different accessories for her bike and was looking forward to cycling with her boyfriend.

'It's clearly an opportunist. No thought or regard to whose bike it is, the personal value it has to a person or how long the person has had it for.

'It's really disappointing that people stoop so low. It is unacceptable in this society.'

His daughter works in retail at the Chapelfield shopping centre. When she realised the wheel was stolen she reported it to the police.

My Boyle believes the wheel was taken between 9am – 6pm and may have been seen by passers-by.

He added: 'This may have happened in broad daylight. If anyone has seen someone walking around with a wheel near The Forum please do the right thing.

'Cyclists should remember to lock their entire bike as this has been an expensive lesson for us.'

If you have any information call the police on 101.
