A rare vintage Morris Oxford Pickup and a 1947 combine harvester will go under the hammer at farm sale near Fakenham a week today.

The Massey Harris 722 has been at Hill Farm, Oxwick, since new. Retiring farmer Geoffrey Spinks, who has sold the farm, is selling 200 lots including more modern tackle.

The other vintage tractors include two grey Fergusons. There is a 1948 TEA model and a Norfolk registered 1955 Fordson Major.

Auctioneer Simon Wearmouth, of Brown & Co, said that a 1966 Liner dumper truck has aroused interest.

The star lot is a Morris Oxford Pickup, MCV, a Morris Commercial Variative, with 94,000 miles. Norfolk registered, OVF 244, is thought to date from 1953.

Nigel Anderson, of Banham, who is the Morris Oxford official historian for the 6/80 & MO Club, said about 43,00 MCVs were made between March 16, 1950 and September 28, 1956. Only 206 have survived with just a dozen in the United Kingdom.

Mr Anderson said that the platinum grey coloured Pickup was likely to appeal to an enthusiast. It may been supplied by W & G Lambert, of Castle Street, Thetford, where had completed his apprenticeship.

n The sale starts at 10am on Saturday, November 24.
