A man banned from shops in a Norfolk town has blamed his hatred of queuing for abusing staff.
Richard Keeble admitted a series of breaches of a community protection notice designed to stop him being a nuisance in shops in the centre of North Walsham.
The 61-year-old, of Bank Loke, who described himself as “a cross between Victor Meldrew and Alf Garnett”, pleaded guilty to breaching the notice on September 7 and 28.
Norwich Magistrates’ Court heard he had asked one woman in food takeaway Urban Bites “are you planning on losing weight anytime soon?”.
He also became abusive and intimidating to staff at The Craft Bakery and QD.
Representing himself he told magistrates: “I don't like queuing. I don’t have a lot of patience and I don’t like inefficiency in shops. I try to stand up for the ordinary shopper.”
He was fined £50 but deemed to have paid it due to time served in custody.
Thanking the magistrates, he replied: “I’m just a moany old git. I don’t mean half of what I say.”
