The winners of the EDP Business Awards 2024 have been announced, and the prestigious title of Norfolk Business of the Year, sponsored by Barclays, has gone to Fairfax & Favor in King's Lynn.
The clothing and footwear brand was established in 2013 by friends and business partners Marcus Fairfax Fountaine and Felix Favor Parker with the aim of celebrating Great British heritage.
They combined their savings built up over the university summer break to acquire their first batch of stock and prove that the concept had legs.
Beginning with an old gazebo and the living room sofa at Holkham Country Fair, the brand has since grown into a sought-after fashion house with a multimillion- pound turnover.
It creates high-quality and fit-for-performance footwear for rural life, with a product range which has evolved to include boots, heels, driving shoes and more, plus an array of handbags and outerwear.
As a multi-award-winning business, Fairfax & Favor is recognised across the industry for its style, and the brand still has its roots firmly in Norfolk, employing over 100 people within the local community.
The judges called Fairfax & Favor a “hugely impressive business” which has grown within into an internationally recognised business with a loyal customer base.
Noting the high quality of the brand’s products, they also said that Fairfax & Favor has built up a reputation for “being on trend” and commended its “growing portfolio of retail stores” alongside the ecommerce business supplying customers around the world.
Finally, they acknowledged the raft of employment and growth opportunities” that Fairfax & Favor creates within local communities, calling it “an acclaimed brand which Norfolk can be proud of”.
Felix Favor Parker, co-founder of Fairfax & Favor, said: “As a brand that is nestled in the heart of Norfolk, we are delighted to win Norfolk Business of The Year – we were up against some great businesses and we feel incredibly grateful to be awarded this against some tough competition.”
Looking to the business’ future, he said: “This year we are very excited to be opening three new stores. Store expansion is a focus for us, not just in the UK but hopefully in America also.
“Stores are such an important touch point for our customers, it’s an opportunity for them to see the brand in person.
“In addition, we will also be introducing more product lines and showing customers that we’re not just shoes and boots.”
