Police chiefs investigating a spate of thefts from shops in a coastal town have launched an online advent calendar appeal in the build-up to the festive season.
A series of images have been featured in a 12-day advent-style calendar after thefts from shops in the Lowestoft area.
Featuring 12 people caught on camera, since Lowestoft Police launched the appeal for help to trace people in connection with the thefts, six have already been identified.
In a post on the Lowestoft Police Facebook page, Sgt Bemment from the Lowestoft Community Policing Team, said: "Who remembers Supermarket Sweep?
"Well, Lowestoft appears to have played host to its very own version recently, but it appears those who took part didn't follow some of the rules and we need to speak to them in connection with some thefts from shops."
With police keen to speak to those featured in the images, it adds: "Can you look at my advent calendar, and if you think you recognise anyone then get in touch by messaging the Lowestoft Police Facebook page inbox, calling 101, visiting Lowestoft station or report via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting the image number when you message."
Urging locals not to "name and shame anyone in the public view comments," it adds: "Some people do make genuine mistakes and may not be guilty of a crime, hence we need to speak to them first to discuss the matter.
"Since the original post six people have been identified and will be spoken to.
"The information you provide will not only help us, but more importantly help our retail partners.
"They are already busy people with the run up to Christmas and the last thing they need is people removing goods from their stores without paying!
"Next time your out shopping and you hear the beep.......Pay for your shopping!"
