Designs for new apartments taking over a former city centre nightclub have been revealed as development nears completion.

The proposals originally put forward by developer JaeVee in 2020 has seen the prominent Prince of Wales Road club, Mercy, converted into 49 apartments.

Called Alexandra Mansions, the building consists of 45 one to two-bed apartments ranging from £180k to £200k, as well as four penthouses coming in at £1m each.

Nicola Colangelo, head of property and sales for JaeVee, gave this newspaper a tour around the new apartments - which are available for purchase or buy-to-let.

She said: "It's a very unique building and we're trying to retain as many features as possible.

"So we're keeping the high ceilings and big windows in a lot of the apartments which you don't get in a regular new-build.

"There's nothing else quite like what we're providing here.

"Buyers can also customise and upgrade practically anything to make the space their own."

Scaffolding has covered the historic building since work began in 2022.

The developer also revealed when the two phases for the project are expected to be completed.

Nicola added: "Phase one, consisting of 24 apartments, is anticipated to be finished by the end of quarter one next year and phase two which includes the penthouses, is expected to be finished by the end of quarter three.

"Like any project you don’t know what you'll discover until you get started but progress is going great.

"This development revitalises the property, returning it to its former glory as a central
landmark in the heart of Norwich.

"I'm truly excited about the progress we've made on-site. It's been one of our most complicated conversion projects to date with many moving parts.

"But with stunning views these apartments will undoubtedly become highly sought
after both locally and domestically."
