A historic barn in the centre of a village is set for repairs amid fears it could collapse.

Tim Bullock has been given planning permission to carry out work on the interior and exterior of the building at South Creake, near Fakenham.

His application said: "Long-term weather ingress and damage to the roof structure have caused instability in the masonry walls, which need to be taken down and rebuilt."

The roof of the building also needs replacing.

South Creake Parish Council supported the application. It said: "The sooner the better.

"This is becoming a high risk of collapse but fortunately it's leaning away from the main road."

A heritage statement said the unlisted buildings were once a row of three cottages, possibly built to house workers from a nearby brewery in the 19th Century.

It adds they were knocked into one single building around the 1880s, which was used for storage.
