The sentencing of an Albanian national who admitted being involved in a cannabis factory found near Norwich has been adjourned.

Ali Tota, 62, had been charged with producing a controlled drug of class B as well as abstracting electricity.

It followed the discovery of around 150 plants at a home in Windsor Park Gardens, Sprowston, following a raid by police on October 22 this year.

Tota, who was arrested at the scene, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday (November 27) for sentence having admitted producing cannabis last week.

But sentencing was adjourned until January 27 to allow a pre-sentence report to be carried out.

Tota, who spoke through an interpreter and is said to have an address in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, was remanded in custody until sentencing.

Recorder Michael Turner told the defendant, who was represented by Matthew Sorel-Cameron, to co-operate with probation in the completion of the report.

But he warned that although a pre-sentence report had been ordered it did not mean "custody is off the table".

As previously reported, the prosecution said it had been a "commercial scale cannabis grow" adding that it was "likely the plea is acceptable".
