A village's post office will reopen after six months this week.
Horning's only post office closed its doors in May when postmasters Andrew and Adrienne Seddon retired.
National statistics show at least two rural post offices are closing each week and locals feared they would never see its return.
But Gail and Ian Watling, who run the Tidings Newsagents and Convenience Store down the street, offered to open a post office counter at their premises and a lengthy negotiation process ensued.

Mr and Mrs Watling were initially told they had to front £20,000 for the counter's installation and they agreed to do it from their own pockets.
Since then, they have received a grant of £10,000 towards the fees.
An opening ceremony will be held at 12.30pm on Friday, ready for its official launch at 1pm.
From then, the counter will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
It will not open on Sundays.
