A 33-year-old from King’s Lynn died after a hospital scan revealed he had suffered a severe brain injury.
An inquest into the death of Joshua Shorting was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court following his death on June 6.
Mr Shorting had been taken by ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital that day after becoming “acutely unwell”.
A CT scan showed he had suffered a severe hypoxic brain injury and he was admitted to the intensive care unit, where he died soon after.

In a statement provided to the court, his cousin confirmed that he had been born in Lynn on July 23, 1990.
At the time of his death he was living in Birmingham and had been unemployed.
A post mortem gave the medical cause of death as a hypoxic brain injury following a seizure due to amphetamine and cocaine use. He also suffered from decompensated hepatic stenosis.
The court is currently awaiting reports from Norfolk Police, social services, Mr Shorting’s GP and next-of-kin.
A full inquest will take place in March next year.
