A meeting between NHS bosses and a landlady of a GP surgery threatened with closure has been described as "positive".

Conservative MP for Mid Norfolk, George Freeman, wrote to NHS Norfolk and Waveney offering to chair a meeting between it and the landlady of Toftwood Medical Centre, Mona Nasser.

The MP prompted the meeting amid concerns the NHS bosses are considering closing the centre in Dereham when their contract with the surgery expires in March 2025.

Mr Freeman said the meeting had been "positive".

He said: "It is possible an agreement could be made but this will now be up to both parties to negotiate over the course of the next week.

"I have arranged another meeting, which I have offered to chair to see where both parties are at."

Following the discussion, a spokesman for NHS Norfolk and Waveney ICB said "work is ongoing to look at what might be possible".

They said: "We would also like to thank everyone who has responded to the consultation, we are now analysing all of the feedback we have received."

The consultation period for the surgery ended last week.
