Work has started on the first phase of a new housing development in a village near Great Yarmouth.
Groundworkers have been levelling the land to construct 173 properties at the new Mulberry Park site in West Caister.
A total of 665 properties will be built by Persimmon Homes at the site after planning permission was granted in 2022 following a Great Yarmouth Borough Council meeting attended by 45 concerned locals, while hundreds more watched live on YouTube.
The homes will range from two to five bedrooms and there will also be space for community facilities at the new development.
Michelle Baker, managing director of Persimmon Homes Anglia, joined members of the Persimmon team at the site of Jack Chase Way to celebrate the milestone.
“This development has been a long time in the making and it was important we celebrated this milestone at Caister," she said. "Work is progressing quickly and we hope to have our show home ready early in 2025.
“We are committed to delivering high-quality, affordable homes that meet local demand, including providing homes for affordable rent and shared ownership."
