A bustling shopping area in Norwich has been named as one of the top 10 hotspots for independent shops.
With more than 500 independent shops, bars, eateries and music venues crammed into its Medieval streets, Norwich Lanes earned a place on the list compiled by American Express in recognition of Small Business Saturday.
The largely pedestrianised area has long been known as the independent heart of Norwich and is steeped in Medieval history and architecture.
The Small Business Saturday campaign encourages the nation to shop small and showcases independent businesses and the valuable role they play in their communities.

Retail experts ranked factors such as the number of independent outlets, variety of business types and vibrancy of the high street.
St Mary’s Street in Stamford, Lincolnshire was crowned as the top hotspot, while the Lanes came in at 10th place.
The research also revealed that living near a vibrant independent high street can benefit home valuations, potentially commanding an additional £12,000 on average.
The Lanes previously won a major national award in 2014 at the Great British High Street Awards.
