A Norfolk homeless charity has been honoured with a significant award from the King.
The Purfleet Trust, based in West Norfolk, has been given the 2024 King's Award for Voluntary Service.
The award was established in 2002 and is equivalent to an MBE. It was previously known as The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
It is now celebrated annually on November 14, coinciding with King Charles' birthday.
The Purfleet Trust was recognised for its efforts in supporting vulnerable individuals and those experiencing homelessness in King's Lynn.
Since its founding in 1993 the charity has grown significantly, now operating across three sites and providing support through six pathway training houses.
It now has a volunteer force of more than 50 individuals and has assisted more than 1,200 people facing hardship in King's Lynn.
Paula Hall, chief executive of the trust, said: “We are humbled and honoured to receive such a prestigious award.
“This recognition highlights the phenomenal commitment of our volunteers and supporters, not just over the past few years but throughout our 31-year history.
“Without their dedication, our vital work in King’s Lynn would not have been possible.”
The Purfleet Trust is planning a special event in the new year for all volunteers and supporters to celebrate this achievement.
Lady Dannatt, the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, will present the award at this event.
As the winter season approaches, The Purfleet Trust invites the community to support its ongoing efforts.
Updates on the winter appeal and upcoming events will be shared on their social media pages.
