The owners of a city garage are set to expand into a site that was the former head office of ABC Taxis.

Smart Motor Works has had its plans to extend into Unit 1 in Paddock Street, in Heigham Grove, approved by Norwich City Council.

The company already operates out of the neighbouring Unit 2 and the owner said the expansion will enable it to grow the vehicle servicing and repair business.

Smart Motor Works is a local garage which offers a wide range of services, including MOTs, servicing and repairs on cars and light vans.

ABC Taxis moved from the Paddock Street site in September 2023 and now bases its main operations out of Sapphire House in Roundtree Way.

The city council approved plans for the extension on November 18 and the garage has three years from the date to begin the development.
