Festivities kick off on December 12 with a “Wear Your Christmas T-shirt and Socks to Work Day”. This is designed to bring smiles to the faces of both residents and staff as everyone showcases their festive spirit. It’s a chance for light-hearted fun, camaraderie and good-natured laughter.
Recognising the importance of spreading cheer beyond the home’s walls, Oakwood House is planning a couple of special trips to Notcutts Garden Centre.
The excursions give residents the opportunity to admire beautifully crafted Christmas displays, breathe in the festive atmosphere and enjoy time spent together outside the home. The trips also help connect residents with cherished traditions of the past, sparking fond memories and festive excitement.
One of the biggest highlights of the holiday season is the annual Oakwood House Panto on December 18. This highly-anticipated event brings together residents, staff and families for an entertaining performance guaranteed to bring laughter and holiday cheer.
From quick-witted jokes to classic tales with a twist, the panto ensures everyone leaves with a smile on their face and a shared experience to cherish.
On December 20, the home will host a residents and family Christmas carols gathering, complete with mulled wine and mince pies. This event fills Oakwood House with music and joy, as families come together to sing, celebrate and bask in the warmth of the season. It’s a heartfelt reminder of how music and community can uplift and connect us all.
As Christmas approaches, Reverend Wilkins will join Oakwood House for his monthly service on December 23. The service provides residents with a peaceful moment for reflection and spiritual connection during the holiday season, adding depth and meaning to their celebrations.
Rounding out the festive period, Oakwood House will host its “Big, End of Year Round-Up Quiz” on December 31. This lively event invites residents, families and friends to enjoy a delicious buffet prepared by the talented chefs, sip on mocktails and test their knowledge with a fun and engaging quiz.
It’s the perfect way to close out the year - celebrating accomplishments, making new memories and looking forward to what’s to come.
