A much-loved Bangladeshi and Indian takeaway is offering a "mega" curry deal as a thank you to its customers after a devastating break-in.

Bombay Spice in Norwich was left with considerable damage after the raid in April last year which saw water pipes damaged and three fires started.

More than £100 in cash was stolen from the business in St Augustines Street along with the Chef of the Year trophy owner Kalam Miah won at the Bangladesh Caterers Association Awards.

Mr Miah explained the deal was his way of giving something back to the community that supported him after the burglary.

For a limited time, customers will be able to grab a set meal including a curry, rice, a papadum and an onion bhaji for just £5.

The deal will run in two week-long intervals from November 18 to 24 and December 2 to 8.

"Without the community's support during that time, I wouldn't be here now," the 55-year-old said.

"It didn't make sense why somebody would do that to me - if you don't like my food, just go somewhere else.

“But I have been a part of the north Norwich community since I came to the UK in 1982 and my neighbours picked me back up.

"Support works both ways and this is one thing I can do in return."

The takeaway is open from 5pm until 11pm, seven days a week.

The deal is only available for cash payment and collection and orders must be made in-store or over the phone.
