Concern is continuing to grow for a 55-year-old man from Weasenham who has not been seen for almost two months.
Jim Harper, also known as Gene, was last seen at the Roys of Dereham department store in Yaxham Road at 11.47am on September 17.
CCTV captured him buying a tarpaulin and items that could be used to build a shelter.
Inspector Simon Jones from Norfolk Constabulary said they remain open to "all possibilities" but are considering the option that he is "sleeping rough in the woodland off the beaten track".
“Two months have now passed since Jim was last seen and it goes without saying this has been a very worrying time for his loved ones," he said.

“Unfortunately, our investigations so far have not identified any activity that could help us to locate him.
“I would ask people who know the area around the Roys store if they remember seeing anyone who fits Jim’s description over the last few months."
Specialist search officers and volunteers will revisit the Yaxham Road area this weekend and people in the town are being asked to check any sheds, outbuildings or commercial buildings they may not regularly access.
Jim is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall and balding, with a grey beard and glasses.
He is believed to have been wearing a dark green checkered shirt, with a dark jacket and trousers.
Anyone who has seen him or has any information on where he may be should contact Norfolk Constabulary on 101 quoting CAD 549 of September 21.
