A bungalow on a leafy lane on the edge of Norfolk's "Chelsea-on-Sea" could be demolished and replaced by a larger home.

Goosebec Developments has applied to knock down the existing property on Herrings Lane, at Burnham Market.

The four-bedroom house, which is currently a holiday let, would be replaced by a lavish five-bed property complete with wine room.

It will nestle on a lane on the outskirts of a second homes hotspot where properties have sold for more than £1m, with the most recent selling in 2022 and fetching £3.8m.

A planning statement adds the majority of plots on Herrings Lane are occupied by large two-storey dwellings and the property will not be within Burnham Market's conservation area.

It stipulated any new builds should be used as someone's main home.

The planning statement said this policy could be dealt with via a planning condition.
