A royal flush could be on the cards as the posh toilets at Sandringham are set to compete in the Loo of the Year Awards.

King Charles could soon have his hands on a prestigious Golden Loo Seat trophy as the facilities at Sandringham's visitor centre were recently graded ‘platinum’.

It means they can now move forward to enter the national awards in January.

The awards aim to encourage the highest possible standards in public toilets and have previously been won by the likes of Wetherspoon and Gatwick Airport.

Visitors to the estate took to social media to praise the loos.

Fiona Ruth said: "My husband had never been to Sandringham before and came out of the toilet facilities with a big grin and said 'have you seen those toilets!'

"He tells anyone who will listen they’re the best toilets he’s ever used."

Tina Hornagold added: "My daughter said she feels like royalty when she uses these toilets as they are so posh."
