A pub and campsite’s bid for nuclear power plant construction workers to stay there has been refused.
Neil Ellis, owner of The Triple Plea in Broadway, Halesworth, originally applied two years ago to change its camping site to a glamping site on the property to East Suffolk Council.
It was approved on condition that "the site shall be occupied solely as holiday accommodation and for no other purpose whatsoever including residential use".
No caravan was allowed to be stationed on the site, or a glamping pod occupied "for more than 56 consecutive days in any calendar year by the same person or persons."
Then Mr Ellis submitted a proposal to change the occupation restriction on the glamping site, so it would allow construction workers of Sizewell C to occupy the site.

The site, also known as Halesworth Holiday Park, is located approximately 14 miles north of Sizewell.
In a letter by agent Phil Cobbold, the condition he proposed was: “The site shall be occupied solely as holiday accommodation or to accommodate workers involved in the construction of Sizewell C and for no other purpose."
He argued the variation would enable "lower cost accommodation" on a temporary basis that is needed for the number of workers expected on the project.
But, the council has refused the proposal over concerns it would lead to an "increased risk of temporary/permanent residential occupancy as opposed to use by genuine holiday makers".

The council also said the site "is not considered suitable for accommodating the needs of Sizewell C workers".
The Triple Plea is currently advertised for sale at £750,000 for the public house and campsite, and £395,000 for the public house only.
This comes after Pontins Pakefield Holiday Village in Lowestoft announced earlier this year that they would provide accommodation for "about 500 workers" who will be working on Sizewell C.
